Local Trails

Bike Glenlivet
Located 4.5 miles from Tomintoul, there is something to do for all the family with a café serving some fantastic cake. Fast flowing single track trails, Blue Red and Orange as well as a pump track and a skills area too.  Not into cycling? There are fantastic walks around the trails with some fantastic scenery too.  Bike Hire is also available The Blue trail is fantastic for novice and intermediate riders. However, that’s not to say that experienced riders don’t enjoy it too. Be rewarder for your effort in a couple of climbs with some fantastic downhill singletrack.
Trail length: 5.5 miles, 9km

The Red trail is slightly more challenging with some fast singletrack sections and technical obstacles as well as some Black graded features (that can be by passed if you don’t feel up to it.)There is a big climb to the top however, you will be rewarded for all your hard work when you reach the top with some of the best scenery that the local area has to offer.
Trail length: 14.5miles, 22km

Enjoy feeling weightless? The New Orange trail might be for you! With some big table tops and gaps. This trail is for the more experienced riders, with some technical skill mandatory.
Laggan Wolftrax
Located 52.5 miles 1hr 10 minutes away from Tomintoul via A9 and A95. A fantastic trail centre more suited to the more technical rider with some fantastic challenging trails and features. However, there is still something for all the family to do. After a big day on the bike why not refuel in the café. Bike Hire is also available.

Green Route : The perfect trail for all the family. Enjoy a scenic cycle around the bottom of Laggan’s forest. A gentle climb to start off with then weave through the forest to finish.
Trail length: 2.75 miles, 4.5km

Red Route A rocky challenge around Laggan’s forest.  Split into two sections the upper and lower red. Sharing the same trail as the black until the “Wolf’s Lair Viewpoint” There is some fantastic rock features such as; “Air’s Rock” and the “Rib Rattler” that can get your adrenaline pumping.

  Trail length: 8.25 miles, 13.4km
Black Route A demanding technical trail for proficient riders that have the ability to ride drop offs and slab features. There is no “chicken runs” that by-pass the features.
Trail length: 4 miles, 6.4km

Orange Trail / Bikepark
  Fast flowing single track with table top jumps and fast berms no need to peddle just free-wheel all the way to the bottom. A great trail to perfect your skills and techniques.  Trail Length: 2.25 miles, 3.6km
Moray Monster Trails
Located 36.4 miles, 53 minutes, from Tomintoul via the B9008 and the A95. lies the Moray Monster Trails near Fochabers

Blue route The Soup Dragon. Great trail for all abilities. You’ve got to go up to come down, a small climb to the top before the fun packed descent begins. Hungry for more? Continue the climb and continue on to The Dragon’s Tail.

Trail length: 2.5 miles – 4.1km

Blue route Gordzilla made up of hard single track and a sections of forestry roads. Still got some room for more? Continue to The Haggis or The Soup Dragon to continue the excitement. 

Trail length: 3.75 miles, 5.3km

Blue route The Haggis some hard singletrack and forest roads continue to The Soup Dragon or Godzilla to extend the excitement. 

Trail length: 5.5 miles, 8.8km

Red route “The Fochabers Ring” Who doesn’t love a good climb? Be rewarded for your hard work when you reach the top, with a pyramidal shaped monument. Then feel the adrenaline rush as you descend on unsurfaced terrain.

Trail Length: 5 miles, 8km

Black route “The Gully Monster” Not for the faint hearted, this trail is full of technical features and single track.

Trail length: 1.5 miles, 2.3km

Orange route for advanced riders only. Have you been riding for a while and perfected you technique? Put that theory to the test with some hard North Shore style wooden features followed by big gaps, drops, and jumps. Then follow the markers back on to the Red trail to the carpark.

Fort William (Nevis Range)
Located 1hr 55 minutes away from Tomintoul, Nevis Range is The UK’s only world cup track renowned for tough trails that challenge the toughest of riders. There is lots of trails for most abilities.

Green Cats Eyes XC style trail with wide berms and roll over features. This trail is great for all the family and those that are just getting the hang of life on 2 wheels. Also suitable for a tag along trailer bike. 

Trail Length: 0.8 miles, 1.3km

Blue Adder XC climb and descents made up of wide berms a mix of flowing board walk and tight twists and turns. Trail Length 2.1 miles, 3.4km

Broomstick Blue A great trail to get your legs spinning and plenty of flowing single track.

10 Under The Ben Based on the “10 Under The Ben” event, this trial is a mixture of singletrack and forest roads. As well as some fun technical features.

Trail Length: 6.2miles, 10km

The Witch’s World Champs

World Class single track made specially devised for the the 2007 World Championships held in Leanachan Forest.

Trail length: 5.2miles, 8.5km

World Cup Downhill

The UK’s only UCI downhill world cup trail. Wide fast single track with unavoidable jumps and obstacles. Make sure that you are capable of this style of riding before jumping.

Trail length: 1.7miles, 2.8km

Moray Monster Trails: No trail head facilities. However, not too far away from Fochabers with local shops and public toilets.

Safety note:

Make sure that you ride within your capabilities and that of the rest of your group. The trails should be ridden in the direction that is shown on the markers (If applicable) to avoid serious injury. We would also recommend that as a minimum safety requirement a helmet and gloves should be worn. If you are not sure about a feature, jump off your bike and have a look to make sure you are capable of it.
